Ibercaja Foundation Launches «Caja de Cine» Film Series in Aragón

The Ibercaja Foundation has launched the second edition of its «Caja de Cine» series, an event that celebrates films shot in Aragon. Under the title «They Were Filmed Here,» the series will screen a selection of movies filmed in various locations across the Aragonese community, providing a unique cinematic experience in the Patio de la Infanta. The screenings, which will take place during the first half of the year, will be open to the public free of charge, although prior registration is required.

A Cinematic Journey Through Aragon

The «Caja de Cine» series features a program that stands out for its diversity, with five feature films that reflect the rich landscapes of Aragon. The first screening, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, directed by Terry Gilliam, will take place on January 12. This film, featuring performances by John Neville and Uma Thurman, was shot in the historic town of Belchite.

On February 9, attendees will be able to enjoy Our Lovers, a romantic comedy starring Eduardo Noriega and Michelle Jenner. This film showcases locations such as the Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta, Boltaña, and Teruel, highlighting the beauty of these places.

The series will continue on March 9 with Guilty for a Crime, directed by José Antonio Duce. This film transforms the streets of Zaragoza into a port city, offering a different perspective on the Aragonese capital. In April, on the 13th, The Sisters Brothers, a western by Jacques Audiard filmed in the stunning landscape of the Huesca Pyrenees, including the Selva de Oza and the Peña reservoir, will be screened.

The program will conclude with two additional films: Rider, on May 11, directed by Ignacio Estaregui, which tells the story of a delivery person navigating the streets of Zaragoza; and The Girls, on June 8, a work by Pilar Palomero that has won four Goya Awards and was filmed at the Miguel Servet Institute in Zaragoza.

Cultural Commitment of the Ibercaja Foundation

The Ibercaja Foundation, the organizer of this series, is a private non-profit entity dedicated to promoting social and cultural activities. With a focus on innovation, the foundation aims to improve the Aragonese region through programs that foster culture and art. This film series is an example of its commitment to bringing cinema closer to the community and highlighting the talent and landscapes of Aragon.
