The CEDES Foundation inaugurated the exhibition Fantastic Animals on June 10, 2025, at the Joaquín Roncal Center in Zaragoza, showcasing 40 wooden sculptures created by students in the Transition to Adult Life course, highlighting the importance of inclusion and creativity in special education.
Creative Process
The sculptures, made from recycled pallet wood and branches, are the result of a process in which the young individuals transformed drawings of animals into three-dimensional sketches, adding details with metallic elements such as screws and nails to enrich the textures and shapes.
Educational Objectives
This project has not only allowed the youth to develop technical skills in handling various tools and materials but has also fostered teamwork and motivation, providing an enriching alternative to the traditional approach of manual workshops. The participants, all young people aged between 18 and 21 years, have adapted their tasks to their individual capabilities, demonstrating great commitment and enthusiasm.
Social Impact
The exhibition is not only a showcase for the talent and creativity of these young individuals but also underscores the CEDES Foundation’s commitment to inclusion and personal development. By exposing their works to the public, the students not only share their art but also promote the foundation’s mission of fostering autonomy and the integration of individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
This exhibition, which will be open until June 28, 2025, marks the 25th anniversary of the CEDES Foundation, reaffirming its commitment to creating opportunities for the full development of individuals with functional diversity, and emphasizing the importance of spaces that allow these young people to showcase their skills and accomplishments.
