Ministry of Defence presents aerospace training military center in Teruel
The Ministry of Defence has presented the project for the Comprehensive Training and Air Mobility Center of the Air and Space Force (CIEMA) at the Airport of Teruel. The announcement was made by the Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, with the participation of Aragonese regional authorities.
The Vice President of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, and the Regional Minister of Development, Housing, Logistics and Territorial Cohesion, Octavio López, participated in the project presentation event. The Regional Minister of Environment and Tourism, Manuel Blasco, also attended.
The project will entail an investment of 42 million euros in the airport and the creation of approximately 350 jobs. The center will enable essential and priority training for pilots and personnel involved in air and transport deployments.
Mar Vaquero emphasized that the center positions Teruel as the epicenter of the aerospace sector, amplifying the airport’s impact through public-private collaboration. The Vice President noted that the CIEMA project is in addition to the 12 million euro investment that the ITA will make to innovate in key areas of the aerospace sector.
Octavio López, also president of the Teruel Airport Consortium, reminded that the Government of Aragon already has investments worth 70 million euros underway in the area. López indicated that the project complements major transformation projects at the airport with business investments that represent a qualitative leap.
