The Government of Aragón, through the Instituto Aragonés de Fomento (IAF), has launched the Rural Digital Academy, a free training program aimed at promoting access to technology in rural areas. This initiative is designed so that those living in low-density municipalities can gain autonomy and confidence in the use of digital tools, both in their daily lives and in their professional development.
The Rural Digital Academy proposes a flexible learning model that integrates online sessions with in-person activities adapted to the rhythm and availability of the participants. The program targets a wide variety of profiles: young people who want to receive training without leaving their locality, women entrepreneurs, unemployed individuals, farm workers, small traders, and, in general, any citizen who wishes to improve their digital skills.
The courses, designed to be taken independently and at no cost, range from basic skills to content applicable to the agricultural sector and entrepreneurship. Among them are training on the use of drones for land management, tools for planning sowing, agricultural management solutions, e-commerce, business administration, and the completion of digital procedures.
One of the unique features of the program is its itinerant format: a minibus converted into a mobile classroom will tour the municipalities of Aragón, bringing training to the streets. In addition to offering workshops and addressing questions in person, there will be facilitators to assist with registrations and guide participants in their first steps.
The first of these sessions will take place on July 9 in Monzón, under the slogan «Connecting the Future.» The event will bring together representatives of the program alongside CEOE and the Association for Rural Development (ARD), in a meeting that will combine training sessions, presentations of technological tools such as Smarteye or AI virtual assistants, immersive experiences, and networking opportunities.
The projections are ambitious: more than 22,000 enrollments and presence in over 700 municipalities in Aragón. The Rural Digital Academy aims not only to provide training but also to consolidate an inclusive, useful digital environment adapted to the realities of the territory.
As the program’s focus indicates, technology should not be an obstacle but a tool for rooting, growth, and transformation in rural areas. This initiative represents another step in the commitment to equitable and sustainable digitization in Aragón.
