The Government Council of Aragón has declared the ambitious project «Ecological-Sports Garden City Los Baños-Teruel» to be of regional interest, driven by Habitalia Teruel of the Térvalis Group. This plan, representing an investment of 165 million euros, aims to transform the city of Teruel through the construction of more than one thousand housing units and various community facilities.
Urban Transformation and Accessible Housing
The «Garden City» project foresees the construction of 1,050 homes, with a significant focus on economic accessibility, as more than 69% of the units will be publicly subsidized. This development will extend over 280,000 square meters, with 40% of the area dedicated to green spaces and open areas, thus promoting a sustainable and healthy environment.
The implementation of the plan will take place in phases over a period of 10 to 15 years, beginning with the urbanization and construction of at least 250 homes once the necessary urban planning licenses are obtained. In addition, this project is expected to generate around 2,000 direct jobs during its construction, significantly contributing to the economic development of Teruel.
Investments in Mental Health and Social Services
In the field of mental health, the Government of Aragón has extended agreements with four non-profit assistance entities, allocating 4,250,000 euros for the care of patients with mental health issues. These institutions provide services to 230 individuals across different healthcare sectors in the region, highlighting the government’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of its citizens.
Furthermore, an investment of 2.9 million euros has been approved to ensure adapted transportation in Zaragoza, Borja, and Torres de Berrellén until 2028, thus ensuring access to essential services for people with reduced mobility.
Complementary Measures for Regional Development
The Government Council has also adopted additional measures, such as approving a decree that clarifies permitted agricultural activities during the Red Alert Plus, thereby strengthening wildfire prevention measures. In the educational field, the agreement with Fundación Ibercaja has been renewed to continue the «Learning to Undertake» program, fostering entrepreneurial spirit from early childhood education to specialized education.
Finally, the annual agreement with the European Commission for the continuation of the Europe Direct information office has been ratified, consolidating access to information about the European Union for the citizens of Aragón.
