The writer from Zaragoza Irene Vallejo, Estrella Morente, Los Chichos, Luis Tosar, and Primavera Sound are among the 35 recipients of the 2025 Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts, the awarding of which was approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers. These awards honor individuals and entities for their contributions to cultural creation and dissemination in Spain. The announcement was made by the Government spokesperson and Minister of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports, Pilar Alegría, at the press conference following the Council meeting.
In the music sector, the Gold Medal has been awarded to figures such as singer-songwriter Christina Rosenvinge and producer and DJ Óscar Mulero. Also recognized are singers Karina and María del Monte, as well as the cantaora Estrella Morente. The musical group Los Chichos, the Fundación Vozes, and the Primavera Sound Festival complete the list of awardees in this area.
In the film sector, actor Luis Tosar and actress Emma Vilarasau have been distinguished, along with director and screenwriter Alauda Ruiz de Azúa and the family of comedians Pla-Solina. In the performing arts, choreographers Laura Kumin and Margaret Jova, along with choreographer Marcos Morau, have received this prestigious award.
Literature, Fine Arts, and Other Recognitions
Writer Manuel Vicent, illustrator Ana Miralles, and philologist Irene Vallejo have been awarded in the literary field. In fine arts, graffiti artist Suso 33, archaeologist Teresa Chapa, and anthropologist Francisco Etxeberría have been recognized. Other awardees include patron Antonio Gallardo Ballart, video game developer Tatiana Delgado, and designer André Ricard.
Posthumously, tribute has been paid to artist Roberta Marrero, journalist Andrés Vázquez de Sola, cultural manager José Luis Cienfuegos Marcello, and actress Verónica Echegui, highlighting their legacy in the cultural landscape.
