Huesca Sets Record for Registrations in the 2026 Dance Competition

Huesca has become the epicenter of dance with the inauguration of the XII edition of the Vaslav Nijinsky Dance Competition, which has achieved a historic record of registrations. This event solidifies the city as a reference point in cultural and artistic tourism, attracting young talents from all over the world.

An event that boosts cultural tourism

The mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna, inaugurated the event at the Congress Palace, accompanied by the councilor for Tourism, Nuria Mur, and other members of the city council. During her speech, Orduna emphasized the importance of the competition as a platform for young dancers and a meeting point for professionals and students who share a passion for dance.

The event not only stands out for its cultural relevance but also for its impact on congress tourism. The influx of participants and visitors energizes the economic and cultural activity of Huesca, reinforcing its tourism promotion strategy.

Record registrations and diversity of disciplines

The 2026 edition has recorded a historic maximum of registrations in its two categories: Nijinsky Classic and Nijinsky Modern. This weekend, the classical category will take place, while the modern category is set for April 17, 18, and 19. The competition includes individual, duo, and group categories across a wide variety of dance styles.

The disciplines included in Nijinsky Classic are classical ballet, neoclassical dance, Spanish dance, and international folklore. Meanwhile, Nijinsky Modern encompasses contemporary dance, modern jazz, urban dance, and tap, providing a space for the expression of different styles and trends.

High-level evaluation and training

The jury, composed of internationally renowned professionals, will not only evaluate the participants but also conduct master classes. The competition takes place in two phases: the semifinals, which are held on Friday and Saturday, and the final with an awards ceremony on Sunday. Both phases are open to the public, with tickets available online and at the box office.

This educational and competitive approach makes the Vaslav Nijinsky Dance Competition a benchmark event that not only rewards talent but also fosters learning and interaction among dancers of different levels and styles.
