The Huesca City Council recognizes the efforts of the hospitality sector to maintain activity after the San Lorenzo festivities, breaking away from the traditional image of widespread closures during August. The majority of establishments remain open or take only short breaks, solidifying the image of the city as a vibrant and attractive destination.
Change in the traditional pattern of closures
Unlike in past decades, when a large part of the hospitality industry remained closed between August 15 and September 1, this situation is no longer widespread in Huesca. Data from the municipal development area reveal a significant transformation in the behavior of the sector.
Hospitality activity data
The figures gathered by the City Council reveal that 40% of bars and restaurants maintain their regular hours during the second half of August. Most of the remaining establishments only take brief closures for a few days, motivated by the need to give staff a break after the intense activity of San Lorenzo.
Only about 10% of hospitality establishments in the city close completely during the second half of August.
Immediate recovery post-festivities
A significant number of establishments reopened normally on the first weekend following the festivals, representing an additional effort to ensure service for residents and visitors during a period of high tourist and social activity.
During the San Lorenzo festivities, hotels achieved 100% occupancy. Forecasts indicate that high occupancy will also be maintained during the second half of August.
The City Council emphasizes the importance of this commitment from the hospitality sector to maintain life in the city during August, reinforcing Huesca’s image as a vibrant and attractive destination for both visitors and residents.
