Indra Group, through IndraMind, has invested €10 million in Barcelona-based Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech to accelerate quantum computing applications in physical artificial intelligence, robotics, defense and security. The transaction positions the technology as a strategic tool for tackling complex systems and strengthening industrial capabilities developed in Spain.
Indra Group strengthens its commitment to quantum computing applied to AI and robotics
The investment will enable IndraMind to expand its capabilities in physical artificial intelligence, precision robotics, complex-system simulation and autonomous systems. The collaboration also includes applications in electronic warfare, optimization, advanced materials, space, and the protection of critical infrastructure and systems.
The two companies plan to develop joint pilot projects in priority areas and integrate quantum computing capabilities into IndraMind’s platform. The goal is to work on phenomena related to energy, materials, electromagnetism and the behavior of autonomous systems.
IndraMind is Indra Group’s technology initiative focused on developing sovereign artificial intelligence in a cyber-resilient environment, aimed at protecting citizens, territories and critical infrastructure. Indra Group operates in defense, space, air traffic management, mobility and advanced digitalization; at the end of 2025, it reported revenue of €5.457 billion, a local presence in 46 countries and commercial operations in more than 140 countries.
Qilimanjaro will scale its quantum chips and systems from Barcelona
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Barcelona, Qilimanjaro describes itself as Spain’s only full-stack quantum computing company. The company designs its own chips, software and algorithms, while also integrating the components required to build and operate complete quantum computers.
Its technology combines digital and analog systems based on superconducting fluxonium qubits under a multimodal quantum computing approach. The company also develops on-premise systems integrated with high-performance computing infrastructure and provides remote access through the SpeQtrum Cloud platform.
Qilimanjaro will use the new capital to scale up and industrialize its systems, develop new chip generations, and increase its manufacturing and deployment capacity. The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation has also strengthened its commitment to the company through a new investment, while Qilimanjaro expects to complete its funding round in the final quarter of the year with the participation of Avançsa and other existing investors.
The transaction aims to retain quantum expertise in Spain and Europe
The investment is intended to strengthen technological capabilities developed in Spain and advance greater European autonomy in quantum computing. According to the statement, the collaboration seeks to retain in Spain and Europe the expertise, intellectual property and industrial capabilities associated with the technology.
For Indra Group, the investment in Qilimanjaro also reinforces its commitment to Catalonia and its position as an anchor company in the regional innovation, supercomputing and quantum technology ecosystem. The transaction links corporate investment with the development of advanced solutions in strategic fields, from robotics and simulation to defense and security.
