Ibercaja Foundation Launches Young Painting Award at ARCO

The Ibercaja Foundation has taken a significant step in its commitment to contemporary art by participating for the first time in the ARCO Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid. In the context of its 150th anniversary, the organization presents the twelfth edition of its Young Painting Award, a competition that has established itself as a benchmark in supporting young artistic talents in Spain.

Awards and Opportunities for Young Artists

The Young Painting Award from the Ibercaja Foundation offers two main prizes: 10,000 euros for the first prize and 6,000 euros for the second. Additionally, five runner-up awards of 1,000 euros each will be granted. The winning works will become part of the Foundation’s art collection, providing artists with a platform for recognition and projection.

The competition is aimed at artists born or residing in Spain, aged between 18 and 35. This initiative seeks to encourage emerging talent and provide a significant boost to the careers of young creators.

Selection Process and Exhibition

The competition unfolds in several phases. The first phase involves the reception of digital proposals, which will be open until September 10, 2026. Artists must submit a form with details about the artwork, two jpg images, a curriculum vitae, and an explanation of the creative process.

In the second phase, the jury will select 60 works that will be included in the exhibition and catalog of the award. Finally, in the third phase, the physical works will be delivered to the Ibercaja Foundation headquarters in Zaragoza, and the jury’s decision will be announced at a special gala between December 2026 and January 2027.

Traveling Exhibition and Contact

The selected works will be exhibited in an exhibition that will be inaugurated in 2027 at Casa de Vacas. Subsequently, the exhibition will tour several cities, including Zaragoza, Logroño, Huesca, Teruel, and Guadalajara, thereby expanding the reach and visibility of the participating artists.
