Mar Vaquero Highlights Innovation in the Metal Sector of Aragón

The Vice President and Councilor of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Government of Aragón, Mar Vaquero, emphasized the innovation capacity of the metal sector during her visit to the companies Ebroacero and Talleres Mercier. These family-owned companies from Aragón are key to the regional economy, generating 140 jobs and demonstrating how tradition and innovation can coexist.

Innovation in the Aragonese Metal Sector

During her visit, Mar Vaquero was accompanied by Ignacio Giménez, General Director of Ebroacero, and Agustín Giménez, Director of Talleres Mercier. Vaquero had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the industrial processes that these companies carry out, from casting to the production of products for diverse sectors such as industrial, offshore, mining, cement, energy, and naval. The Vice President highlighted the metal sector’s ability to evolve and break away from stereotypes that label it as outdated. Metal is a traditional sector that evolves and stands out for its innovation, she stated, emphasizing the high technological capacity and sustained investment in new technologies.

Ebroacero, founded in 1963, specializes in manufacturing cast steel parts and alloy castings for industrial applications. With a team of 96 professionals, the company achieved a turnover of 16.1 million euros in 2025, allocating 48% of its production to export in more than 30 countries. This international projection reflects its commitment to quality and innovation.

On the other hand, Talleres Mercier, with more than 150 years of experience, has 44 employees and recorded a turnover of 4.6 million euros in 2025. The company allocated 31.61% of its sales to export, demonstrating its ability to compete in international markets and its adaptability to sector demands.

The visit of Mar Vaquero to these companies underscores the importance of the metal sector in Aragón, not only as an economic engine but also as an example of how tradition can go hand in hand with innovation to face future challenges.
