The Recognition of the National Illustration Award
The National Illustration Award, endowed with €30,000, is granted annually by the Ministry of Culture to recognize the work of Spanish illustrators in the field of books and literature. In the previous edition, the award was given to Violeta Lópiz, adding to a list of distinguished illustrators such as Sergio García Sánchez and Sonia Pulido, among others.
This award not only celebrates artistic excellence but also values the contribution of illustrators to culture and literature in Spain, promoting the diversity of the country’s official languages.
Jesús Cisneros: Career and Achievements
Born in Zaragoza in 1969, Jesús Cisneros studied Art History and Illustration in his hometown. Although he initially worked as a graphic designer, his passion for drawing led him to dedicate himself entirely to illustration. He has published more than 30 books, collaborating with publishers from Europe and Latin America, and has exhibited his work in galleries and museums around the world.
Throughout his career, Cisneros has received multiple recognitions, including the Lazarillo Award for illustration and mentions at the Ilustrarte Biennial in Lisbon. His work has been selected for international festivals, highlighting his global impact in the field of illustration.
