GastroGarnacha has successfully concluded its second edition in Zaragoza, receiving a very positive evaluation and establishing itself as a key gastronomic extension of the International Garnacha Fair. Over the course of ten days, the initiative brought together nearly 30 establishments, highlighting the importance of garnacha wine and Aragonese products in the local culinary scene.
Success of the Initiative in Zaragoza’s Hospitality Sector
During the event, around 30 bars and restaurants in Zaragoza offered tapas and menus paired with garnacha wines and local products. Held until June 7, the fair extended its festive atmosphere to various locations throughout the city, reinforcing the role of the hospitality sector as a showcase for Aragonese products. According to Horeca, the initiative has served as a catalyst for the establishments, attracting locals, visitors, and tourists interested in local gastronomy.
The president of Horeca Restaurantes Zaragoza and the province, José María Lasheras, emphasized that this edition has demonstrated Zaragoza’s ability to create a robust offering centered around garnacha. Lasheras noted that the hospitality sector not only serves local products but also interprets them, transforming them into unique experiences for customers.
Industry Assessment and Growth Prospects
José María Marteles, president of the Association of Cafés and Bars, highlighted the role of bars as spaces for gathering and sharing information. He believes that a tapa and a glass of garnacha serve as an effective entry point for discovering the wines of the region. Marteles stated that the success of this edition confirms the existence of an interested audience and the capability of establishments to enhance their offerings.
Both presidents agree that the positive assessment encourages them to work with greater ambition for next year. Their aim is to increase participation, improve coordination with the International Garnacha Fair, and continue strengthening an initiative that has proven its ability to attract audiences and highlight Aragonese products.
Institutional Support and Zaragoza’s Projection
GastroGarnacha has received backing from the Zaragoza City Council and Zaragoza Turismo, as part of a strategic initiative to promote wine tourism and gastronomy as drivers of tourist and economic attraction. The event reinforces the hospitality sector’s role as a strategic ally in promoting the region, solidifying Zaragoza’s status as a reference point for gastronomic and wine tourism.
The collaboration between institutions, the hospitality sector, wineries, and producers has enabled the creation of initiatives with a direct impact on the city and the image of Aragon as a territory linked to wine and fine dining. With the second edition concluded, Horeca Restaurantes and the Association of Cafés and Bars are already looking ahead to the next event, aiming to continue growing and improving the proposal.
