Chocolates Lacasa creates the first 100% Spanish chocolate bar
Chocolates Lacasa has achieved a historic milestone in the Spanish chocolate industry after more than two years of research and development. The company has presented the first chocolate bar made entirely in Spain, using cocoa grown in the Málaga region and processed in its facilities in Oviedo, Quintanar, and Zaragoza.
For decades, cocoa was a fruit that Spain exclusively imported from other continents. However, a pioneering cultivation project started in Málaga a few years ago has begun to bear fruit. Driven by the curiosity and determination of its master chocolatiers, Chocolates Lacasa accepted the challenge of turning this local cocoa into a unique bar. As explained by the company’s R&D team: «For us, chocolate is not just a product; it is our passion. And that passion has led us to ask ourselves: is it possible to create the first 100% Spanish chocolate bar? Today we have the answer.»
The development has not been easy: years of waiting, testing, and dedication passed from planting the first seed to harvesting the first beans. After the harvest, the cocoa traveled to Chocolates Lacasa’s Oviedo facilities, where the processes of mixing, refining, and conching were carried out with the same care and detail that characterize the company. The result is an unparalleled chocolate bar, the fruit of mastery and patience, symbolizing the best of Spanish chocolate tradition and a company’s ability to innovate while continually looking forward.
Commitment to sustainability and Spanish culture
This chocolate bar represents more than a gastronomic milestone; it is a gesture of commitment to the land, sustainability, and the culture of chocolate in Spain. For Chocolates Lacasa, being «100% Spanish» means respecting the environment, valuing gastronomy as a driver of social happiness, and celebrating life by sharing sweetness with loved ones. This initiative has given birth to a single bar, a piece that summarizes the essence of a pioneering project and becomes a symbol of the innovative and visionary spirit of the company.
This launch, coinciding with World Chocolate Day, marks a turning point in the history of chocolate in Spain. Chocolates Lacasa, a family-owned company founded in 1852 in Jaca (Huesca) and with over 170 years of experience, demonstrates that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand to write new chapters in national confectionery.
