The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Luis Biendicho, has reaffirmed his commitment to the tourism sector in Aragón during his visit to the Aragonese Tourism Fair (ARATUR). This event, celebrating its 20th edition, takes place from May 15 to 17 at the Zaragoza Congress Palace, establishing itself as a key meeting point for the industry.
Wide representation of destinations and activities at ARATUR
ARATUR stands out for its diversity of participants, gathering iconic destinations from Aragón such as Aragón Tourism, Zaragoza Tourism, Mudéjar Territory, Ribagorza, and Gúdar-Javalambre. Additionally, it features participation from neighboring regions such as Navarra, Menorca, Soria, and, for the first time, Ceuta. The international offering is enriched by the presence of France and Portugal, reinforcing the global nature of the fair.
Aragón Tourism has set up a 100-square-meter stand designed under the creative theme “Aragón is color, you choose the journey.” This space offers a variety of interactive activities, including wine tastings, award-winning tourist experiences, and origami workshops. Special activities have also been scheduled to prepare visitors for the solar eclipse on August 12.
Economic impact of tourism in Aragón
The Aragonese tourism sector has shown remarkable performance in the early months of 2026. In the first quarter, the region welcomed 775,518 travelers, representing an increase of 3.8% compared to the same period last year. Additionally, 1,707,318 overnight stays were recorded, a 6.9% increase compared to 2025.
The year 2025 marked a milestone with historical figures of 4,079,947 travelers and 8,991,455 overnight stays. Tourism significantly contributes to the Aragonese economy, accounting for 10.7% of the regional GDP and generating an economic impact of 4.107 billion euros in 2025. Furthermore, the sector employs 67,500 people directly and indirectly, solidifying its position as the fourth largest employer in the autonomous community.
