Pérez Forniés Promotes Aragonese Neurosciences in Meeting with Experts
The Minister of Employment, Science and Universities, Claudia Pérez Forniés, met with prominent neuroscience specialists to analyze the potential for developing this discipline in the autonomous community. The meeting was held with Alberto Jiménez Schuhmacher, ARAID researcher at the Aragon Health Research Institute, and Carlos Matute Almau, President of the Spanish Society of Neuroscience.
The meeting focused on promoting neurosciences in Aragon, discussing the strategic, social, and human importance of brain research. The participants examined the international projection of Spanish and Aragonese neuroscience, assessing the opportunities for positioning the region in this scientific area.
During the meeting, the brain was addressed as a key organ that poses significant scientific and health challenges for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and chronic pain. The experts agreed that understanding brain function is essential for the health, innovation, and competitiveness of the Aragonese autonomous community.
Participants highlighted that technological advancements have ushered in a new era in neuroscience, placing Aragon in a favorable position to work on positioning itself at the forefront of research and knowledge transfer in this field.
