About 150 students between the ages of 10 and 14 gathered at La Alfranca to participate in the XI Foreign Language Science and Technology Fair of Aragón. This event, which took place on May 7, 2026, featured the participation of 31 bilingual schools from Aragón and two invited schools from Navarre, under the inauguration of Ana Moracho, General Director of Educational Policy, and Pilar Gayán, General Director of Science.
A pioneering educational initiative in Spain
The fair, convened by the General Directorate of Educational Policy, Organization, Equity, and Training, and organized together with CARLEE, stands out as one of the first of its kind in Spain. Since its inception in 2014 with only eight bilingual schools from Zaragoza, the event has grown significantly. Its objective is to bring science closer to children, foster scientific vocations, and develop educational methodologies that integrate experimentation, scientific thinking, and language skills in foreign languages.
Throughout its eleven editions, the fair has allowed numerous schools and students to participate in national and European phases, promoting innovative and educational projects.
Exhibition and evaluation of scientific projects
During the day, students presented their scientific work in a foreign language before a specialized jury. Evaluation criteria included scientific rigor, originality, creativity, oral skills in a foreign language, as well as the impact and environmental sustainability of the projects presented.
The participation of institutions such as the British Council, the French Embassy in Spain, Santillana, Cachivache Animación, and scientific entities like INMA and EEAD-CSIC enriched the event. Additionally, Ciencia en Acción selected one of the projects for the national phase, opening the door to the European phase of Science on Stage.
Awards and notable recognitions
The fair concluded with the presentation of awards in various categories, highlighting the Best Exhibition in a Foreign Language, Creativity, Climate Action, and the STEAM Award. Furthermore, a special mention was awarded for projects from other Autonomous Communities, recognizing the effort and innovation of the participants.
