The regional minister for Economy, Competitiveness and Employment, Eva Valle, has called for greater competitiveness, innovation and regulatory stability to preserve Europe’s automotive industry amid intensifying global competition. The regional official identified local content and production capacity as decisive factors in determining where automotive employment, technology and value added will be concentrated.
Eva Valle calls for stable rules to strengthen Europe’s automotive industry
Valle took part on Friday, October 23, 2026, in the event “Local Content CAAR: The Last Opportunity for European Industry”, organized by the Aragon Automotive and Mobility Cluster. The gathering examined the future of European industry and the role of local content in strengthening its productive capabilities.
The minister argued that Europe will retain a strong automotive industry only if it can compete in international markets, innovate, increase productivity and adapt to the pace of transformation required by the sector.
She also called for “clear, balanced and stable” rules, alongside an industrial policy that makes it possible to reconcile the technological and climate transition with the preservation of European production capacity.
Automotive sector concentrates employment, innovation and value chain in Aragon
The debate is directly relevant to Aragon, where the automotive industry has been one of the main drivers of growth, employment and innovation for more than four decades. The sector also has an extensive business value chain in the region.
Valle warned that the transformation will affect not only the types of vehicles that will be on the roads in the future. It will also determine where those vehicles are manufactured, where their components are produced and in which regions employment, technology and value added remain.
The Government of Aragon sees this evolution in the sector as an opportunity to attract industrial investment that manufactures in the region, integrates with Aragonese companies and helps increase the value added generated locally.
