The Government of Aragón has taken a significant step in promoting Vocational Training (VT) in rural areas with the inauguration of a new classroom at the IES Salvador Victoria in Monreal del Campo. This project, led by the Minister of Education, Science, and Universities, Carmen Susín, represents an investment of 1.5 million euros and aims to improve educational quality and labor opportunities in the region.
Cutting-edge infrastructure for VT in Monreal del Campo
The new classroom stands out for its modern and functional design, covering 700 square meters dedicated to the practical training of students. The facilities include four workshops equipped with state-of-the-art technology, allowing students to engage in hands-on experiences in a suitable environment. Additionally, the building features storage areas and specific CO₂ systems required for training cycles in Manufacturing and Assembly, Heat Production Facilities, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
With this new infrastructure, training that previously took place in external facilities is now centralized, optimizing resources and enhancing the educational experience. New classrooms for basic VT have also been established in the main building, along with a dedicated VT department, strengthening the educational offerings of the center.
The Government of Aragón’s commitment to VT and rural areas
During the inauguration, Susín highlighted the Government of Aragón’s effort to expand VT in the region, emphasizing the creation of over 3,300 new places and 52 new programs in the last two years. Currently, the educational center has 43 students training in areas such as plumbing and the installation and maintenance of heating and cooling systems.
The minister emphasized the importance of VT as a tool for retaining population in rural areas, enabling young people to develop their life projects without needing to leave their environment. This strategy not only aims to improve the quality of life for rural residents but also to stimulate the local economy by providing qualified labor to businesses in the area.
IV Dual VT Fair: a bridge between education and industry
Coinciding with the inauguration, the IV Dual VT Fair was held, an event aimed at strengthening collaboration between educational institutions and the business sector. The sessions, organized since 2023, have brought together companies from the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating sectors, and have included round tables discussing VT experiences and the needs of the productive fabric.
Key figures among the participants included Nuria Ros, Secretary General of the Teruel Chamber of Commerce; José Luis Castán, Provincial Director of Education; José Carlos Rubio, Director of the IES; and Mario Latorre, Mayor of Monreal del Campo. The fair has highlighted the growing interest in VT in the province, where over 3,200 students are currently pursuing these studies, a number that increases annually.
