Stellantis Figueruelas Adds 400 Workers to Boost Production of New Models

The Stellantis plant in Figueruelas has resumed operations this week following the summer shutdown, with the addition of 400 employees, a staffing boost related to the preparation of the Zaragoza factory for the production of new models.

The new workers have been training since July to join the production process and to manage the rollout of vehicles that will soon arrive at the Figueruelas lines. Among them is the Leapmotor B10, internally identified as project B5, which additionally marks the introduction of a model from the Chinese brand in which Stellantis holds a stake.

The B10 will begin assembly on line 1 in Figueruelas, according to Motor16. Its arrival represents a significant step in the industrial transformation of a factory that is preparing to expand its vehicle portfolio in the coming months.

A new Opel model will also be added subsequently. The evolution of production will be influenced by the commercial response these vehicles receive, although the forecasts from employee representatives are positive.

Unions have welcomed the addition of the 400 employees as well as the industrial outlook for the plant with optimism. José Juan Arceiz, head of UGT, believes the situation looks favorable following the resumption of operations and with the arrival of new models on the horizon.

The union representatives also contend that Stellantis is adhering to the industrial plans agreed upon for Figueruelas. Arceiz emphasizes the strategic position of the Zaragoza plant within the group’s European industrial landscape and asserts that it has an industrial plan that offers promising prospects for the coming years.

The addition of the new workers thus represents an initial labor impact resulting from the changes facing Figueruelas. Following the training period that began in July, the workforce now enters a new phase where the introduction of the Leapmotor B10 and future models will be crucial for the evolution of activity and employment at one of Aragón’s main industrial facilities.
