Tomasa Hernández Highlights Special Educational Priority in Aragon
The Councilor for Education, Culture, and Sports of the Government of Aragon, Tomasa Hernández, participated in the Provincial Days of Special Education in Network held in Maella on November 22, 2025. During the event, she reaffirmed the institutional commitment to inclusion, equity, and improvement of specialized educational support.
The Provincial Days were held under the motto «Cooperation Unites Us. Accompaniment Transforms Us» and brought together teachers, families, professionals in diversity care, and education students in a day of reflection and shared learning. The program was developed at the Cine Goya and the Special Education Center of Maella, including presentations of inclusive projects and a round table with centers such as Gloria Fuertes, Alborada, ATADES-San Martín de Porres, Rincón de Goya, and Segeda.
Hernández emphasized that «Special Education is an irrefutable priority for the Government of Aragon, which is reflected in concrete actions and the allocation of resources.» She highlighted the agreement reached in the summer to transform the facilities of the former Day Center into a new Special Education Center, as a result of the collaboration between the regional government and the City Council of Maella. This new center significantly improves the quality of life for students and facilitates the reconciliation of their families, avoiding travel to other towns like Andorra, responding to the growing demand for specialized schooling in the area.
The Mayor of Maella, María Elena Bondía, publicly thanked the Department of Education for its involvement in the consolidation of the center, highlighting the joint effort made by the teachers of the EBO Classroom, IES Baix Matarranya, and the Provincial Education Service. The days were organized by the Government of Aragon, using the hashtag #MaellaIncluye to raise awareness on social media of the collaborative and transformative spirit of the event.
