Hernández Advances Concerted Baccalaureate in Las Viñas de Teruel

Hernández Visits Various Schools in Teruel to Promote Educational Concertation in Upper Secondary Education

The Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports of the Government of Aragon, Tomasa Hernández, visited two educational centers in the city of Teruel. During the visit, she supervised educational modernization initiatives and highlighted measures aimed at improving the educational offering in the autonomous community.

Las Viñas School in Teruel will be one of the centers eligible to participate in the educational concert for 2nd year of Upper Secondary Education starting from the 2026-2027 academic year. It is the only school in the province that encompasses all educational stages and has a 57-year history in the city, with a current enrollment of 600 students distributed across two streams in early childhood, primary, secondary, and upper secondary education.

The Minister emphasized that this measure will allow families who have chosen this center to ensure the continuity of their children’s education until the age of 18, without economic factors being a barrier. In Aragon, there are 54 units eligible to participate in this system, with a planned investment of 126,000 euros per module and academic year.

The implementation will require an initial investment of 3 million euros for the first term of the 2026-2027 academic year. It is estimated that around twenty centers throughout Aragon could benefit, joining the 8 that already have this level in place. With this measure, approximately 1,560 families will benefit in the first year. Family contributions would range between 18 and 36 euros per month, according to current regulations.

Modernization of School Cafeterias

Hernández also oversaw the transformation works of the centralized kitchen at CEIP Ensanche, with an investment of half a million euros. This facility will serve not only the students of the center but also the Pierres Vedel and Miguel Vallés schools. Additionally, there is an evaluation of the possibility of expanding the service to the school in Cella.

This action is part of the school cafeteria improvement plan promoted by the Department of Education. During the previous summer, 9 cold line cafeterias were transformed into on-site kitchens with an investment of over 2 million euros, benefiting nearly 1,500 students. For the upcoming school year, the transformation of at least three more cafeterias is planned, including those at Catalina de Aragón in Zaragoza and Galo Ponte in San Mateo de Gállego.
