The Diputación de Zaragoza has announced the winning works of the XXXV Santa Isabel de Portugal Prize for Narrative and Poetry. This event, which will take place on March 19, will feature the presence of the Deputy for Culture, Charo Lázaro, as well as prominent figures from the literary and audiovisual fields.
Awards for Literary Creativity
The Narrative Prize has been awarded to Juan Luis Saldaña for his work «La mala edad», which has received a prize of 5,000 euros. Published in the Baltasar Gracián collection, the novel stands out for its quality and originality, offering a reflection on the hero’s journey. The story presents eight characters, including figures such as Pamela Anderson and Grace Kelly, facing missions that lead them to destruction.
On the other hand, the Poetry Prize has been awarded to Octavio Gómez Milián for his work «Sobre el mar imposible», also awarded 5,000 euros and published in the Veruela Poesía collection. The jury has valued his ability to combine the beauty of the everyday with the major themes of life, such as love and death.
Backgrounds of the Award-Winning Authors
Juan Luis Saldaña, a law graduate and doctor in Journalism, is a freelance journalist specializing in opinion and column writing. He also works as a professor of digital marketing. His literary approach reflects his extensive training and experience in communication.
Octavio Gómez Milián, a mathematics teacher at the Ateca institute, is a regular contributor to media outlets such as Heraldo de Aragón and El Español. His pop culture blog, Motel Margot, showcases his versatility and passion for writing.
