Aragonese families are preparing to apply for school places from April 16 to April 22 for the 2026-2027 academic year. This process, key for early childhood, primary, special, and compulsory secondary education, was presented by Luis Mallada, Director General of Planning, Centers, and Vocational Training of the Government of Aragón, highlighting important updates and a detailed calendar.
Projections and Enrollment Criteria for the 2026-2027 Academic Year
It is expected that 8,669 children born in 2023 will join the Aragonese education system, a decrease of 316 compared to the previous year. The distribution by province anticipates 6,409 registrations in Zaragoza, 1,400 in Huesca, and 860 in Teruel. The enrollment criteria remain unchanged, achieving a 97.4% satisfaction rate for the first choice and a 99.3% including the first alternative. The most relevant factors for scoring are having siblings enrolled at the center and the proximity of the family or work address.
Technological and Logistical Updates in Admissions
This year, the enrollment of rural childcare centers has been expanded to all public schools in their localities, allowing for the early registration of 3-year-old children, an option chosen by 20% of families. Additionally, in May, an application utilizing Artificial Intelligence will be launched to manage late applications, offering features such as real-time vacancy consultation and automatic document validation.
Process Calendar and Support Resources for Families
The application process closes on April 22 at 2:00 PM. The ranked lists will be published on May 4, and the draw to resolve ties will take place on May 8. The provisional lists will be available on May 11 and the final ones on the 15th. Enrollment for early childhood and first grade will take place from May 26 to June 1, while for higher courses it will be from June 19 to June 25. Families will have telephone and in-person assistance to address inquiries, and applications will be submitted online through the portal educa.aragon.es/admision.
