Zaragoza Celebrates European Craft Days

The Aragon Artisan Center (CADA) inaugurates a vibrant weekend of activities in Zaragoza as part of the European Days of Crafts. This event aims to connect visitors with artisan traditions, offering a rich experience in culture and creativity.

A Weekend Full of Artisan Activities

The epicenter of the celebrations will be the Plaza del Buen Pastor in Zaragoza, where a market of artisanal products will be available to the public. At the same time, attendees will be able to enjoy the exhibition of the Traditional Piece of Aragon, showcasing award-winning pieces and graphic material detailing their production processes. Furthermore, the upper rooms of CADA will host permanent exhibitions of contemporary ceramics, enriching the cultural offerings of the event.

Additionally, the audiovisual space of the center will screen documentaries about Aragonese craftsmanship, created by the renowned ethnographer Eugenio Monesma. These screenings aim to provide a deep and educational insight into the traditions and techniques that define local art.

Interaction and Learning at the Artisan Creation Space

The Artisan Creation Space will become a meeting point where the public can experience firsthand techniques such as ceramics, screen printing, and textiles, guided by professionals from the sector. A highlight of the program is the presentation of the «Fusión» project, an innovative collaborative proposal in pop-up format, where four artisans combine various techniques and materials.

The CADA store, which features the work of more than 30 Aragonese artisans, will present a special showcase designed by jeweler Carmela Cardiel, who will also hold a meeting with the public on Saturday at 12 PM. On Sunday, the music of the group Bucardo Folk Aragonese will enliven the Plaza del Buen Pastor at the same time, closing the weekend with a festive touch.

Boosting Aragonese Craftsmanship

The event is also part of a broader strategy by the Department of Presidency, Economy, and Justice, which seeks to revitalize the artisan sector through the MIMA Program (Modernization, Innovation, and Improvement of Competitiveness of Aragonese Craftsmanship). This program has facilitated the creation of two digital platforms for the promotion of artisan sectors and fairs, in addition to the brand «Aragon by Hand.»

With an investment of 298,000 euros, the Government of Aragon continues to support key initiatives such as «EscolArte,» the CADA store, the Aragon Craft Fair, and the Christmas Fair, consolidating its commitment to the preservation and modernization of local craftsmanship.
