The Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Government of Aragón will invest 5.34 million euros in the expansion of IES Rodanas in Épila (Zaragoza), with the aim of addressing space issues and expanding the training offerings in Vocational Training.
Currently, IES Rodanas hosts 33 groups of students from Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training. The lack of space has led to four Vocational Training groups holding classes in facilities provided by the City Council of Épila and the use of four prefabricated classrooms for Baccalaureate students. The expansion will facilitate the inclusion of new training cycles in key areas.
The expansion will include the construction of two new buildings totaling approximately 3,000 square meters, located south of the current buildings. These will house Vocational Training cycles in Food Industries, on the ground floor; Administration and Management, on the first floor; and Computer Science and Communications, on the second floor. Additionally, an auxiliary building for Agro-Gardening and Floral Arrangements will be constructed, which will include multipurpose classrooms, workshops, laboratories, and changing rooms.
The design of the new facilities will follow the aesthetic of the existing building to maintain architectural harmony and avoid large uniform volumes. The gardening areas, greenhouse, and shading structure will be oriented towards the south, thus protecting the spaces from northern winds and the impact of the nearby sports field.
Companies interested in taking on the construction have until the 28th, at 2 PM, to submit their bids, as stated in the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
