Formative assessment takes center stage at Huesca’s Provincial Physical Education Conference
Teachers from preschool, primary and secondary education are joining students and faculty from the University of Zaragoza at this annual professional development event. The conference runs from Friday morning through Saturday and aims to bring Physical Education-related initiatives into the classroom.
The opening was attended by representatives of the Physical Education seminar and the dean of Huesca’s Faculty of Human Sciences and Education, Javier Zaragoza. Also in attendance were Mayor Lorena Orduna; the director general for Education Policy, Organization, Equity and Training, José Luis Ferrando; and the director of the Provincial Education Service, Carlos Oliván.
The keynote address was delivered by Ángel Pérez Pueyo, a PhD in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, in a presentation focused on formative assessment.
Fifteen hours of workshops on health, strength, rhythm and student assessment
The program includes up to 15 hours of activities, with workshops on circus arts, jump rope and rhythm, strength development at school age, and health in schools. Sessions address tools for student assessment and will involve all attending teachers in Saturday morning’s activities.
The program also includes the traditional tribute to retired teachers. Friday’s program will conclude with a session of traditional dances, as part of an edition featuring practical and cultural activities centered on movement.
The dance del degollau brings movement culture to López Allué Square
The conference is opening part of its program to the public with a workshop on the dance del degollau. The activity will take place this Friday from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in López Allué Square, in collaboration with the Danzantes de Huesca and the Huesca Music Band.
