Aragonese exports increase by 8.4% annually in the accumulated of the first eleven months of last year

In the month of November, foreign sales of our Community fell by 2.2% annually to reach a value of 1,301.3 million euros. This is the second highest record achieved in the month of November, only behind November 2020.

Aragonese exports reached a value of 1,301.3 million euros and recorded a year-on-year decrease of 2.2% in the month of November 2021, while in Spain they recorded an average increase of 22.6% year-on-year, according to data made public this Thursday by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. Despite the frictions that world trade is experiencing and the supply crisis that is affecting various sectors, the nominal data of foreign trade of the Autonomous Community noted in the month of November, constitute the second highest record achieved in a month of November, behind November 2020.
With respect to total Aragonese imports, in November these increased by 13.5% year-on-year to 1,124.8 million euros, while in the national aggregate, foreign purchases registered an increase of 36.3% year-on-year.

The breakdown of foreign trade figures between the main sectors shows how the activities with the greatest relative importance in the Autonomous Community’s foreign sales during that month were those related to the automobile sector (with an export value of 360, 9 million euros, representing 27.7% of the total), food, beverages and tobacco (with an export value of 231.8 million euros, representing 17.8% of the total) and capital goods (with an export value of 215.6 million euros, representing 16.6% of the total).

With regard to Aragon’s imports, the production sectors with the highest figures in the same month are the following: consumer manufactures (with an import value of 353.4 million euros, accounting for 31.4% of the total), capital goods (with an import value of 280.2 million euros, accounting for 24.9% of the total), and chemical products (with an import value of 134 million euros, accounting for 11.9% of the total).

Eleven months

However, in the accumulated January-November period, exports from Aragon increased by 8.4% annually, reaching a value of 13,298 million euros, while in Spain they increased by 21.2%. On the other hand, imports in Aragon increased by 16.4% year-on-year during the first eleven months of the year, reaching a value of 11,216.2 million euros, while in Spain they recorded an annual growth of 23.6%.

As a result of the evolution of trade flows so far in 2021, Aragon recorded a trade surplus of 2,081.8 million euros, 21.1% lower than that obtained during the same period in 2020. In this way, the Autonomous Community contributes to the decrease in the Spanish trade deficit accumulated up to November 2021, which stands at 20,836 million euros.

Finally, Aragon’s coverage rate in the year-to-date stands at 118.6%, 25.3 points above the Spanish average (93.3%).
