The Zaragoza Provincial Council has granted a total of 150,000 euros in funding to 57 associations in the province to carry out activities that promote and revitalize the cultural heritage of the municipalities in Zaragoza. This initiative aims to highlight the important cultural heritage of the municipalities in the province of Zaragoza, as well as to enhance the activities of the associations and non-profit entities dedicated to its defense and promotion.
The funding is intended to finance activities that support the protection of historical, cultural, and artistic heritage, including archaeological sites, historical and artistic buildings and complexes, photographic archives, and traditional clothing. The Provincial Council makes this financial effort annually to support entities that organize these activities.
The Deputy for Culture, Charo Lázaro, has emphasized that the Zaragoza Provincial Council is committed to the cultural revitalization of rural areas and considers cultural heritage as the living memory of a municipality, whose preservation strengthens local identity. According to Lázaro, preserving churches, archives, oral traditions, and heritage sites maintains both a tangible and intangible legacy that facilitates understanding of history and continuity among generations.
The deputy also highlighted that well-maintained heritage often attracts tourism, stimulates the local economy, and generates employment opportunities in sectors such as hospitality, culture, and cultural tourism.
