The Government of Aragon Launches Grants of Up to 8,000 Euros for Cultural Activities in Rural Areas

The Government of Aragón has launched a call for grants aimed at promoting cultural activities in rural areas, as part of its strategy against depopulation. These funds, directed at non-profit organizations, seek to revitalize the rural environment through culture.

Importance of Grants for the Rural Environment

The initiative, supported by Councilor Octavio López, offers financial support ranging from €2,000 to €8,000 per project, with a total fund of €500,000. The goal is to promote cultural activity in rural areas, thereby contributing to their dynamism and attractiveness. The granting of these subsidies will be carried out under a competitive tendering system, ensuring that the selected projects are those that best meet the established criteria.

The eligible entities to receive these grants are associations and foundations without profit motives based in Aragón. It is essential that these organizations are registered in the General Register of Associations and the Register of Foundations of the Department of Finance, Interior, and Public Administration.

Eligible Cultural Activities

The activities that can benefit from these grants are varied and include artistic expressions such as dance, opera, theater, circus, puppetry, and marionettes. Also eligible are live music concerts, recitals, choirs, film, monologues, historical reenactments, and guided tours. This diversity seeks not only to enrich the cultural offerings in rural areas but also to attract different audiences and encourage community participation.

Deadlines and Application Procedure

Interested entities have a period of 30 calendar days to submit their applications, from March 27 to April 26, 2026. The application process must be carried out exclusively electronically using the electronic headquarters of the Government of Aragón and the procedure number 11422. Applications should be addressed to the General Directorate of Depopulation, reflecting the government’s strategic focus on addressing demographic challenges through culture.

With this call for proposals, the Government of Aragón reaffirms its commitment to revitalizing the rural environment, using culture as a key tool to combat depopulation and promote balanced territorial development.
