The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of Aragón has granted aid totaling €15.8 million to 253 young farmers as part of the Strategic Plan of the CAP 2023-2027. This measure aims to promote generational transition in the agricultural sector and strengthen rural activity in the region.
Funding and Distribution of the Aid
The 2026 call for applications, regulated by Order AGA/103/2026, has a mixed funding structure: 43% comes from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the remaining 57% from the budgets of the Government of Aragón. In terms of provincial distribution, Zaragoza leads with 99 beneficiaries and a total of €6,317,500 in aid. Following are Huesca, with 88 beneficiaries and €5,505,000, and Teruel, with 66 beneficiaries and €3,987,500.
Beneficiary Profile and Strategic Objectives
The profile of the young farmers benefiting from these aids is diverse, but notably includes 65 women, representing 25.69% of the total. The average age of entry into the sector is 28 years. By age groups, 103 beneficiaries are between 18 and 25 years old, 57 are between 26 and 30, 40 are between 31 and 35, and 53 are between 36 and 40. This initiative not only seeks to rejuvenate the agricultural sector but also to promote youth employment in rural areas.
Deadlines and Execution of the Business Plan
The young farmers who are beneficiaries have a period of 24 months from the signing of the resolution on August 4, 2026, to execute their eligible projects. Additionally, they must start applying their approved business plans within nine months after the aid is granted. These measures are part of the PEPAC 2023-2027, designed to ensure the continuity and sustainability of agricultural activity in Aragón.
