The Government Council of Aragon has given the green light to a series of aid calls totaling 28 million euros aimed at boosting the economic and social development of the province of Teruel. These initiatives range from a just transition and business modernization to sustainability and education, with the goal of invigorating the area until 2026.
Support for Just Transition and Business Modernization
The Just Transition Fund, endowed with 15 million euros, focuses on supporting SMEs and legal entities in Teruel. It is distributed across five strategic lines: digitalization of SMEs, business development and internationalization, energy efficiency, intelligent energy systems and storage, and circular economy. This fund aims to foster sustainable economic development adapted to the new market demands.
Meanwhile, the Lanza Teruel program has 13 million euros from the FITE 2025. It is designed for large and medium-sized enterprises planning significant investments of over 5 million euros. Its three axes of action include business investment, industrial research and experimental development, as well as energy efficiency and demonstration projects.
Support for Strategic Sectors and Clean Technologies
In order to modernize ski facilities in Teruel, a call for 2 million euros for investments in snow-making has been approved. The aid is intended for the expansion and renovation of facilities for snow production, as well as the improvement of machinery and vehicles based on sustainability criteria.
Additionally, a call for clean technologies has been launched with an initial budget of 4.2 million euros, which could be expanded to 6 million. This aid, with a limit of 500,000 euros per entity, is directed towards projects that promote energy storage, industrial decarbonization, the use of advanced materials, recycling, and circular economy.
Projects of Autonomous Interest and Education
Among the highlighted projects, a poultry complex in El Pobo has been declared of Autonomous Interest, anticipating an investment of 100 million euros. This project, which will begin in 2027 and conclude in 2031, will generate employment both during its construction and in its operational phase, having a significant impact on the local economy.
Finally, a collaboration agreement between the Government of Aragon and the University of Zaragoza has been authorized to offer the degree in Medicine in Teruel starting in September 2026. This academic program, which will provide 45 places, will be integrated into the Obispo Polanco University Hospital, expanding educational offerings and improving healthcare training in the region.
