Registration Opens for the 2026 Family Business Awards in Aragon

The Association of Family Businesses of Aragon (AEFA) and the Government of Aragon have announced the opening of the registration period for the fifth edition of the Family Business Awards of Aragon 2026. These awards aim to recognize family businesses that stand out in the region for their economic and social impact, with the application deadline set for February 23, 2026.

Family businesses based in Aragon, regardless of their sector, can submit their applications. The awards are divided into two main categories: Large Company, for those with more than 50 employees, and Small Company, for those with fewer than 50 workers.

To participate, companies must meet certain requirements and submit a report that addresses three key aspects: business trajectory, sustainability policy, and family continuity. These elements are essential to evaluate the companies’ contributions to regional development.

Evaluation Criteria and Important Deadlines

Companies must detail their business trajectory, including their founding, turnover, internationalization, and previous recognitions. Regarding the sustainability policy, social commitment, equality measures, work-life balance, environmental impact, and implemented social actions are assessed.

Family continuity is another crucial criterion, where the current generation, the involvement of family members in the company, the regulation of family relationships, and future plans are analyzed.

The selection process for finalists will take place from February 23 to March 6, culminating in the awards ceremony on March 19, 2026.

Impact of AEFA in Aragon

Founded in 1996, AEFA represents Aragonese family businesses both nationally and internationally. In 2024, the 100 associated companies generated a combined revenue of over 17.37 billion euros, representing 30% of the Gross Value Added in Aragon, and employed 65,061 people, accounting for 10% of private employment in the region.

The sector composition of these companies is diverse: 45% belong to the industrial sector, 30% to the agri-food sector, 23% to services, and 2% to construction. Additionally, in terms of exports, the associated companies contributed 16.77 billion euros in 2024, reflecting an internationalization percentage of 24%.
