The major exhibition organized by the Diputación de Zaragoza to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Gracia has closed its doors with very positive results: more than 31,000 visitors have toured the halls of the Palacio de Sástago since its inauguration last November.
The exhibition reviewed six centuries of history of one of the most important healthcare and assistance institutions in Aragón. Through documents, historical artifacts, medical materials, and audiovisual resources, the tour provided an accessible and thorough look at the evolution of the hospital and the role it has played in caring for the most vulnerable individuals.
The Diputación de Zaragoza emphasizes that the attendance confirms the public’s interest in learning about the social and healthcare history of the region. It also highlights that this exhibition has allowed for the recovery and dissemination of a largely unknown heritage to the public, showcasing everything from the medieval origins of the hospital to its current function as a reference center for mental health.
The parallel programming—guided tours, educational activities, and informative meetings—has also contributed to the positive reception, with a very high level of participation from schools, associations, and organized groups.
With this exhibition, the Palacio de Sástago reaffirms its role as one of the main cultural spaces in the province, and the Diputación de Zaragoza concludes one of the most prominent proposals from its recent exhibition calendar.
