Record Number of Applications for Agricultural Aid in Aragón

Record Number of Applications in the Aid Program for Agro-Food Industries from the Department of Agriculture

The demand for financial support is doubling the available funds. The total investment would exceed 211.5 million euros.

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of the Government of Aragon has received a historic response to the call for grants for investments in the transformation, marketing, and development of the agro-food industries in the region, framed within the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027. The ORDER AGA/1118/2025, published on September 5, allocated 18,572,484 euros to promote modernization, competitiveness, and added value for the sector leading up to 2026.

Interest has exceeded all forecasts, with 83 applications registered: 31 in Huesca, 12 in Teruel, and 41 in Zaragoza. The total investment requested would reach 211,526,773 euros, confirming the dynamism of the sector and its willingness to invest in innovation and the future.

The projects cover almost all branches of the agro-food industry. The meat sector leads with 66 million euros in 17 applications, followed by fruits and vegetables with 43 million in 22 applications, and animal feed also with 43 million but in just 5 applications. Cereals represent 11 million in 7 applications, while eggs and poultry account for 10 million in 6 applications.

The economic demand doubles the available funds, reflecting the sector’s confidence in regional support. With an average aid of 15%, the applications exceed 27 million euros, well above the allocated budget. The projects focus on digitalization, sustainability, energy efficiency, technological modernization, and diversification, generating jobs and boosting the internationalization of Aragonese products.

The territorial reach is significant: the applications come from all provinces and various districts, strengthening territorial integration and rural development.

The projects will have up to three years to be executed, extendable for another year, with a resolution expected in the first quarter of next year. The Director General of Innovation and Food Promotion emphasizes that this massive response demonstrates that the Aragonese agro-food industry is ready to invest, innovate, and grow, reaffirming the Department of Agriculture’s commitment to support the sector as a driver of employment and territorial development.

This call represents the second round of funding for transformation, following the 16 million euros from 2024 that already benefit more than 50 industries throughout the region, consolidating Aragon’s strategy as a leading agro-food sector generating opportunities.
