The Ibercaja Foundation commemorates the 280th anniversary of the birth of Francisco de Goya with a special program of activities that will take place from March 28 to 30 in the Patio de la Infanta in Zaragoza. This event combines theater and theatrical visits, complementing the exhibition «Goya. Interlude,» which showcases 31 works by the renowned Aragonese painter.
Theater and Theatrical Visits to Celebrate Goya
On Saturday, March 28 at 11:30 a.m., the Ibercaja Foundation will host a family theater activity titled «Witches and Wizards Wanted to Prepare Goya’s Paintings.» This proposal, led by Los Navegantes, invites children and adults to immerse themselves in the painter’s universe through a blend of theater and play, recreating some of his most emblematic works.
On Sunday, March 29 at 11:30 a.m., attendees will be able to enjoy a theatrical visit to the exhibition «Goya. Interlude.» Led by the character of Gumersinda, the artist’s daughter-in-law, the activity promises to reveal family anecdotes and intimate moments that are not depicted on the canvases, offering a unique perspective on the painter’s life.
Finally, on Monday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m., the play «The Last Dream of Goya,» written and directed by Olga Larrubia, will be presented. Featuring performances by Javier Vázquez, Esther Albalá, Rubén Remacha, and Blanca Láinez, the play addresses Goya’s final moments during his exile in Bordeaux, providing an introspective and poignant look at the artist.
Exhibition «Goya. Interlude»: A Journey Through the Master’s Work
The exhibition «Goya. Interlude» is a selection of 31 works from the Goya Museum. Ibercaja Foundation Collection, showcased while the museum undergoes expansion and renovation. The exhibit spans different periods of Goya’s career, including sketches for the Basilica del Pilar, portraits of prominent figures such as Félix de Azara and Queen María Luisa of Parma, as well as works with religious, social, and political themes.
Among the exhibited pieces, the complete series of «Children’s Games» stands out, reflecting Goya’s ability to capture the essence of daily life with a critical and detailed approach. This exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to appreciate the artistic evolution of the painter and his impact on contemporary art.
