As many as 450 vocational training students in Aragón participated in the largest artificial intelligence hackathon in the region, held at the Salesian school in Zaragoza. This event, which included students from the Salesian schools in Zaragoza and La Almunia, focused on the application of generative AI to real-world challenges.

The hackathon brought together students from various vocational training disciplines at the Salesian centers in Zaragoza and La Almunia. Throughout the day, participants faced practical challenges, applying their knowledge of artificial intelligence to real-world situations. This event, regarded as the largest of its kind in Aragón, took place at the facilities of the Salesian school in Zaragoza.
Tools, Challenges, and Participating Entities
The competition revolved around the “Hackathon AWS PartyRock,” utilizing the free Amazon Web Services platform, AWS Party Rock. This tool enables the design of generative AI applications without requiring advanced technical knowledge. Students tackled challenges proposed by organizations such as Fad Juventud, Prusa Research, and Experis, which presented problems and needs from various sectors, integrating technology with the business environment.
Organization, Institutional Presence, and Programs
The final phase of the hackathon was organized by the AWS Tech Alliance, alongside the Amazon InCommunities team and the Inventors Academy. The event featured prominent figures such as Luis Mallada, General Director of Planning, Centers, and Vocational Training of the Government of Aragón; Iñaki Bilbao, head of educational programs and the AWS Tech Alliance; Carlos Valdés, head of AWS’s Social Impact program; and Merche López, director of the Salesian school in Zaragoza. Luis Mallada inaugurated the event, which is part of the national AWS Futuro IA program and the National Generative AI Awards.
This hackathon is one of many activities AWS has organized in Aragón this year, reaching nearly 1,000 vocational training students. With previous events in Zaragoza, Huesca, and Teruel, Aragón is establishing itself as a benchmark in technological education, demonstrating that artificial intelligence is accessible to all educational profiles within vocational training.
