Aragonese exports experienced a significant increase of 5% in March 2026, reaching a value of 1.395.1 million euros. This growth compares favorably with the national increase of 5.1%, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business.
Trends in Exports and Imports in Aragón
In March 2026, exports in Aragón grew by 5% year-on-year, totaling 1.395.1 million euros. However, Aragonese imports decreased by 14%, amounting to 1.536 million euros, in contrast to the 1.6% increase in national imports. As a result, Aragón’s trade balance in March was negative, with a deficit of 140.8 million euros, while the national trade deficit reached 4.371.9 million euros. The coverage rate in Aragón stood at 90.8%, surpassing the national average of 89.1%.
Sectoral Composition of Exports and Imports
The automotive sector led Aragonese exports in March 2026, with overseas sales of 343.9 million euros, representing 24.7% of the total. It was followed by the Food, Beverages, and Tobacco sectors, with 283.5 million euros (20.3% of the total), and Capital Goods, with 227.8 million euros (16.3%). Together, these three categories accounted for more than 61% of the region’s total exports.
On the other hand, Aragonese imports were led by Capital Goods, with purchases totaling 541.4 million euros (35.3% of the total). Consumer Manufactures and the automotive sector followed with imports of 265.5 million euros (17.3%) and 257.2 million euros (16.7%), respectively.
Accrued Trade Balance and Coverage Rate in 2026
During the first quarter of 2026, Aragón recorded an accumulated trade surplus of 101.8 million euros, helping to mitigate the national deficit of 11.677.4 million euros. Aragón’s coverage rate during this period rose to 102.7%, exceeding the Spanish average by thirteen and a half percentage points at 89.2%, highlighting the region’s commercial strength.
