The Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA) has launched the INNOstep program, a pioneering initiative aimed at boosting Aragonese companies in the field of deep digital technologies. Fully funded by the Aragón FEDER Program 2021–2027, this program offers a unique opportunity to develop innovative solutions at no economic cost to the participating companies.
Boosting European Technological Sovereignty
The INNOstep program is part of the STEP Platform (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform), a European Union strategy designed to reinforce technological sovereignty in key sectors. This framework aims not only to enhance industrial competitiveness but also to strengthen Europe’s technological autonomy. As part of this platform, Aragonese companies have the opportunity to position themselves at the forefront of technological innovation, thereby contributing to European leadership in advanced digital technologies.
Promoting R&D&I in Aragon
INNOstep focuses on promoting the development of deep digital technologies through research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) projects. These initiatives must be directed towards addressing specific challenges in strategic industrial sectors, with a direct impact on the region’s competitiveness. In the 2025 edition, the program benefited 14 Aragonese companies, demonstrating its potential to transform the local industrial landscape.
Strategic Technology Areas
The program prioritizes five areas of deep digital technology, deemed strategic for the future. These include advanced semiconductor technologies, such as microelectronics and the design and fabrication of microchips. Additionally, it focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI), connectivity and navigation technologies, as well as robotics and autonomous systems. Innovation in deep technology is also a fundamental pillar, driving the development of cutting-edge technological solutions.
