The Ana María Navales Integrated Public Center in Zaragoza has won the first prize in the category of Experiences in Educational Centers at the Educational Experiences Awards that promote Students’ Digital Competence, awarded by the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF). This prestigious recognition highlights the center’s effort to meaningfully integrate technology into early childhood education.
Educational Innovation through the «Creating Digital Landscapes in Early Childhood Education» Project
The awarded project, titled Creating Digital Landscapes in Early Childhood Education, focuses on a methodology that incorporates technology as a key tool for learning and creativity from an early age. Students engage in activities that include the use of digital microscopes, educational robotics, augmented reality, stop motion, podcasts, and QR codes. These technological resources are combined with manipulable materials and artistic proposals, creating a rich educational environment filled with research experiences.
The project’s approach is not merely to introduce more screens in the classroom but to utilize technology in a way that has a clear pedagogical purpose. The center’s philosophy is based on a balance between digital and analog resources, fostering an experimental space that prioritizes imagination and curiosity. According to the educational team, the challenge is not for children to use technology, but for them to learn to understand and use it thoughtfully.
A Replicable and Accessible Educational Model
One of the most notable features of the project is its replicability in other educational centers. It uses digital tools that are accessible and low-cost, making it easier for other institutions to adopt. The active participation of students, teachers, and families has been crucial to the project’s success, consolidating a model where technology serves as a tool for thinking, creativity, and learning.
The recognition from INTEF not only celebrates the success of CPI Ana María Navales but also encourages other centers to follow its example in the smart integration of technology in early childhood education. This award underscores the importance of preparing new generations for a digital world, without losing sight of creativity and critical thinking.
