Zaragoza will host the 2nd Energy Transition and Transport Sustainability Forum on September 29, 2026, bringing together the professional transport sector to discuss electrification, renewable fuels and the barriers shaping the decarbonization of freight and passenger transport.
Mobility City brings together the transport sector amid the energy transition
The forum will be held at Mobility City on Zaragoza’s Ranillas Avenue, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Fundación Corell is organizing the event alongside Fundación Repsol, Fundación Ibercaja and Mobility City, with participation from companies including Repsol, Daimler Truck, Disfrimur, ALSA, Avanza and Molgas.
The event will examine the decisions facing the sector on fleet renewal, energy infrastructure, operating costs and propulsion technologies. The program will cover both solutions already available and their real-world deployment by freight and passenger transport companies.
The opening is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., with Jaime Armengol, coordinator of Ibercaja Mobility City; Marcos Basante, president of Fundación Corell; and a representative of the Government of Aragon. This will be followed by a presentation by Alberto Camarero, professor of Transport Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, titled Transport at the Energy Crossroads.
Electrification, alternative fuels and passenger transport take center stage
The first panel will examine the electrification of freight transport from the perspectives of charging infrastructure, manufacturers and operators integrating new technologies into their fleets. Participants will include Pablo Suárez, CEO of Full & Fast; Alejandro Izquierdo, technical director of PragmaCharge; Juan Jesús Sánchez, CEO of Disfrimur; and Laura Rodríguez, eMobility Truck Spain manager at Daimler Truck. Jaime Armengol will moderate the discussion.
At 11:20 a.m., Enrique González, technical director of Bosques y Movilidad, will present Decarbonization Solutions. Then, at 11:40 a.m., the Alternative Fuels panel will examine the role of renewable fuels and other energy options in reducing emissions from professional transport.
The second discussion will feature Fernando de la Sen, manager of Renewable Fuels Development at Repsol; Carlos Salinas, Mobility Spain director at Molgas; José Ramón Freire, CEO of AEAR and Bio-E; and Inés Cardenal, communications director of the Platform for Renewable Fuels. José Víctor Esteban, secretary-general of Fundación Corell, will moderate.
Passenger transport will have its own session at 12:40 p.m., with a panel on the impact of the energy transition on the sector. Participants will include Carlos Agulló Calvo, director of Avanza Zaragoza; Miguel Ángel Alonso, CEO of ALSA’s Maintenance and Procurement Division; and Jaime González, managing director of Confebus. Eva Pérez, journalist and content director at Cadena SER Zaragoza, will moderate the session.
The forum will close with a presentation on civil and military mobility
The program will include a presentation by Federico Aránega, a civil engineer and military commander, on Dual-Use Civil and Military Mobility. The closing, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., will feature Marcos Basante, a representative of the Ministry of Transport yet to be appointed, and Jaime Armengol.
Attendance will be free with prior registration through the Fundación Corell website. The event aims to showcase initiatives already underway in the sector and the technological, economic, regulatory and infrastructure obstacles that continue to set the pace of the transport energy transition.
