Legaltech Hackathon in Zaragoza: Innovation for Law at The Wave

The Royal and Illustrious College of Lawyers of Zaragoza (ReICAZ) has announced the organization of a Legaltech Hackathon, an event aimed at boosting innovation in the legal sector through collaborative technological solutions. This meeting, which is part of The Wave 2026, will be held from April 6 to 10, with project presentations scheduled for April 14. Registration will be open until April 3.

Participation open to law students and professionals

The hackathon is aimed at graduates and final-year law students, as well as those pursuing a dual degree in Law and Business Administration or the Master’s in Access to the Legal Profession and Advocacy at Aragonese universities. Additionally, members of any bar association in Aragon can also participate.

Teams must consist of between 3 and 6 people, and the inclusion of members with technical or technological profiles, such as engineers, programmers, and designers, is encouraged to enrich the development of the proposed solutions.

Innovation and technology to transform the legal sector

The main objective of the hackathon is to promote innovation in the legal field through the development of technological solutions that contribute to the improvement, modernization, or transformation of the legal profession and legal services. Projects may include applications, mockups, prototypes, or any initiative that incorporates technology to optimize legal services.

Suggested themes include legal analysis tools based on artificial intelligence, applications for access to justice, online dispute resolution (ODR) platforms, law firm management, cybersecurity and data protection, process automation, and smart documents.

Mentoring and awards for outstanding projects

During the hackathon, participants will have the support of the consulting firm Hiberus, which will provide specialized technical mentoring. Winning projects will receive a prize of 1,000 euros, along with licenses for professional legal software from Clío/Vlex, Tirant lo Blanch, and Lefebvre, as well as vouchers for the Coloriuris service.

Additionally, an extra prize of 500 euros will be awarded to the project that receives a special mention, thus encouraging creativity and excellence in the development of innovative solutions for the legal sector.
