Aragón to Implement High School Curriculum Starting 2026-2027

The President of the Government of Aragón, Jorge Azcón, announced during the State of the Community Debate that the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports will initiate the process of establishing concerted high school education in the 2026-2027 academic year. This measure aims to facilitate the right of Aragonese families to freely choose the type of education for their children.

Azcón emphasized that this is a highly demanded initiative by Aragonese families and is part of fulfilling the electoral promises of the regional government. The president deemed it unfair that there are students who have to leave the concerted school where they have studied their whole lives and argued that the government should facilitate the exemption from fees for all non-university education for families who freely choose a concerted center, just as is done with public centers.

President Azcón expressed the Aragonese government’s support for concerted education at all educational levels: Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, and High School. He described this model as an essential and irreplaceable element in our system to guarantee quality education for everyone, funded with public resources.

The concerted high school education will begin in the 2026-2027 academic year specifically in the first year of High School, with a territorial distribution that includes two units in Teruel, two units in Zuera (Zaragoza), and five units in Huesca. The Department of Education plans to gradually expand these units in successive academic years.
