Unemployment in Aragón experienced a significant reduction of 4.61% in December 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data from the Public Employment Service. This downward trend was highlighted by Javier Martínez, Director General of Economic Policy, in a recent press conference.
Decrease in unemployment in December
At the end of December, Aragón recorded 48,454 people in unemployment, representing a decrease of 268 people compared to November, equivalent to a 0.55% decrease. At the national level, the decline was 0.67%, with a total of 2,408,670 unemployed, 16,291 fewer than the previous month.
In annual terms, unemployment in Aragón decreased by 2,344 people compared to December 2024. In Spain, the decrease was more pronounced, with 152,048 fewer people, representing a fall of 5.94%.
Detailed analysis by sectors and provinces
By gender, unemployment among Aragonese women decreased by 563 people, a 1.87% monthly decrease, while among men it increased by 295, an 1.59% increase. In terms of sectors, unemployment in the industrial sector rose by 95 people (1.81%), in construction by 127 (4.91%), while in services it decreased by 238 people (0.71%) and in agriculture by 66 (3.46%).
By province, Huesca registered a reduction of 179 people (2.74%), Teruel by 17 (0.41%), and Zaragoza by 72 (0.19%).
Hiring and affiliation to Social Security
In December, 35,444 contracts were formalized in Aragón, of which 31.24% were permanent and 68.76% temporary, representing an increase of 781 contracts compared to November (2.25% monthly) and 3,890 compared to December 2024 (12.33% annual).
The average affiliation to Social Security in the region reached 633,131 people, with a monthly increase of 900 affiliates (0.14%) and an annual increase of 14,169 people (2.29%).
