Aragón is strengthening its presence in the Spanish hotel market with 15 projects focused on 4- and 5-star establishments. According to the The Hotel Property Telescope 2026 report by EY-Parthenon, the autonomous community plans to add 543 new rooms through 12 developments and modernize another 138 through three renovations, totaling 681 affected rooms.
Boosting the hotel pipeline in Aragón
Currently, Aragón has 12 hotel projects in the pipeline that will add 543 rooms in the coming years. Although the volume of activity is more moderate compared to other national tourist destinations, the report highlights that the community is consolidating its position thanks to factors that favor investments focused on higher-quality products. The economic dynamism of Zaragoza and the growing tourism appeal of other areas in Aragón are key elements in this strategy.
Dominance of higher categories and a focus on quality
Of the 12 projects under development, 7 correspond to 4- and 5-star hotels, representing nearly 60% of the new developments in Aragón. These establishments will add a total of 430 rooms, which constitutes approximately 80% of the future hotel supply in the region. The four-star projects will account for 385 rooms, while the five-star projects will add 45 rooms. This trend reflects a consolidation of higher categories in the Aragón hotel pipeline, driven by a demand oriented toward experience and quality.
Modernization and renovation of the hotel sector
In addition to new developments, Aragón is modernizing its existing hotel offerings. Three renovation projects will impact 138 rooms, adapting various establishments to meet the new market demands. These renovations are spread across two-, three-, and four-star hotels and aim to improve competitiveness, raise quality standards, and enhance customer experience. Modernization is seen as a key tool for creating value in a competitive environment.
Collectively, the 15 projects demonstrate investors’ confidence in Aragón’s tourism sector and its ability to attract long-term hotel projects. This growth is framed within a favorable national context, where Spain is positioned as one of the most dynamic and attractive markets in Europe for hotel investment, with 457 projects underway and over 40,000 rooms planned.
