Exports from Aragón have experienced a decrease of 8% in the cumulative total until November 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year. This decline, according to the International Commission of CEOE Aragón, is mainly due to the crisis in the automotive sector, Chinese competition, and weak demand in the European Union. The situation has caused the coverage rate in the region to drop to 78.7%.
Impact on Key Sectors
The automotive sector has been the most affected, registering a decline of 24.7%, equivalent to a loss of 1,084.23 million euros. Consumer manufacturing has also suffered a reduction of 14.9%, while food exports have decreased by 2.5%. These sectors have been the hardest hit by the adaptation to new models and the lack of international demand.
On the other hand, some sectors have shown resilience and growth. Consumer goods exports have increased by 4.6%, semi-manufactured goods by 4.8%, energy products by 2.4%, and raw materials by 0.5%. These increases reflect a diversification in Aragonese exports.
Trends in Foreign Trade
In contrast to the decline in exports, imports in Aragón have grown by 30.5%, mainly driven by capital goods. This growth in imports reflects strong domestic demand, despite the challenges in the export sector.
Exports to the United States have increased by 9% despite the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, while imports from that country have grown by 25%, surpassing export growth. This dynamism in trade with the United States highlights the importance of this market for Aragón.
Diversification Strategies
The International Commission of CEOE Aragón has recommended expanding presence in emerging markets such as Asia, Latin America, and Africa. It also emphasizes the importance of the agreement between the EU and Mercosur, while underscoring the need to protect the food sector, considered strategic for European food sovereignty. These recommendations aim to mitigate dependence on traditional markets and promote the geographical diversification of Aragonese exports.
