The Government of Aragon and the Provincial Council of Teruel have formalized an agreement to invest one million euros in the modernization of 33 rural educational centers. This agreement aims to improve the infrastructure of the Grouped Rural Centers (CRAs) in various municipalities of Teruel, highlighting their commitment to education in rural areas.
Strategic Investment in Rural Education
The addendum to the agreement, announced by Acting Education Counselor Tomasa Hernández and the President of the Provincial Council of Teruel Joaquín Juste, will allocate one million euros for the improvement of educational infrastructures. The works will start in 2026 and benefit 32 municipalities, including Albentosa, Alcorisa, Alloza, and Albarracín. This investment focuses on strengthening territorial cohesion and combating depopulation by maintaining a quality educational network.
The selected municipalities will receive significant improvements in their educational centers, which will not only allow for the modernization of facilities but also the adaptation to new technologies and educational needs. This joint effort between the Government of Aragon and the Provincial Council of Teruel underscores the importance of maintaining essential services in rural areas.
Main Modernization Works
The agreement includes key interventions in several centers. At the CEIP El Justicia de Aragón in Alcorisa, 48,380 euros will be invested for the replacement of carpentry and the renovation of the heating system to aerothermal energy. At the CRA Ariño-Alloza in Alloza, adaptations will be made to the restrooms and moisture repairs will be carried out. Meanwhile, the CRA Palmira Pla de Cedrillas will see improvements in climate control with the replacement of the boiler.
Other notable interventions include the reform of the playground at the CRA Albarracín, which will receive an additional municipal contribution of 70,000 euros, and the reroofing of the CRA Alto Maestrazgo in La Iglesuela del Cid. These actions reflect a continuous commitment to improving educational conditions in rural areas, ensuring that students have access to modern and safe facilities.
Institutional Commitment and Future
The agreement, which will be in effect from 2024 to 2027, was approved by the Government Council following a review by a monitoring commission. This agreement reflects the commitment of both institutions to enhance rural education, highlighting their role in the fight against depopulation and the promotion of territorial cohesion. Through these investments, the Government of Aragon and the Provincial Council of Teruel aim to ensure that rural educational centers can offer a quality education adapted to the needs of the 21st century.
