Aragon Participates in the State Commission for Natural Heritage in Murcia
The General Directors of Forest Management, Ana Oliván, and of Natural Environment, Hunting and Fishing, Alfonso Calvo, attended a meeting on October 14 and 15 focused on analyzing the state of ecosystems and planning the National Restoration Plan.
The meeting concentrated on assessing the current state of ecosystems through the indicators of the National Inventory and advancing the planning of the National Restoration Plan. Topics related to ecosystem conservation and restoration, the methodology for identifying degraded areas, and the action criteria to ensure the recovery of the most degraded spaces were discussed. Opportunities for funding and public participation in biodiversity protection were also addressed.
The Aragonese officials conducted technical visits to natural areas in Murcia. In the El Valle and Carrascoy Regional Park, they learned about the facilities of the Wildlife and Flora Recovery Center, where the present species and the main issues they face were explained. They also toured the Sierra Espuña Regional Park, where they learned about the historical reforestation legacy of Ricardo Codorníu and the richness of its Mediterranean forest, as well as the forestry work aimed at adapting to drought to address the severe decline affecting the maritime pine forests.
These experiences reinforce the commitment of the Government of Aragon to sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation.
