The Government of Aragón recognized four institutions and individuals on Tuesday in Jaca for their significant contribution to the development of tourism, culture, and heritage in the community. The ceremony was attended by President Azcón, who also announced investments to enhance the promotion of Aragón in the tourism sector.
Awards for Tourist Merit
The Government of Aragón granted the Tourist Merit Medals of Aragón 2025 to the Diocese of Aragón, the Fundación Amantes de Teruel, the Brother Mayor of the Knights of San Juan de la Peña, Félix Longás Lafuente, and the Festival Pirineos Sur.
The Diocese of Aragón was distinguished for its essential role in the conservation and dissemination of religious heritage, including the Diocesan Museums of Huesca, Barbastro-Monzón, Jaca, Teruel, and Zaragoza, as well as projects such as Fiat Lux, Vía Basilicarum, and Hydria in the Cathedral of Tarazona.
The Fundación Amantes de Teruel received recognition for its contribution to the cultural and tourism development surrounding the story of the Lovers.
Félix Longás Lafuente, in his capacity as Brother Mayor of the Knights of San Juan de la Peña, was awarded for his commitment to the preservation and promotion of the historical and tourist values of Aragón.
The Festival Pirineos Sur was honored after more than three decades of activity, consolidating the Valle de Tena as an international benchmark for cultural tourism.

In addition, Plaques for Tourist Merit 2025 were awarded to the Association of Entrepreneurs of the El Tubo Sector of Zaragoza, the Commemoration of the Commitment of Caspe, the Gastronomic Innovation Center of Aragón, the ACURBA Association of Bailo, master pastry chef Jesús Tolosana Viu, the Hotel Somnifabrik of Valderrobres, the Buñuel Calanda Center Foundation, and the company Conexión Imaginativa.
President Azcón announced that the Aragón stand at FITUR 2026 will incorporate more than 150 square meters of screens to offer an immersive and sensory experience, under the slogan «Aragón, a place to live it all.»
Tourism Data 2024-2025
For the first time, Aragón surpassed four million visitors in 2024. Between January and September 2025, the community recorded more than 3.2 million travelers, a 1.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, and achieved 7.2 million overnight stays, marking a 3.5% increase.
