Zaragoza will host the first joint meeting of all advisory commissions on Civil Law from the autonomous communities with their own regulations, scheduled for next Wednesday, September 10. This initiative, driven by the Aragonese Commission on Civil Law, will bring together around fifty specialists and institutional representatives.
The event will feature participation from the advisory commissions of Galicia, the Basque Country, Navarra, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and Aragon, as well as representatives from the Valencian Community and the Civil Law section of the General Codification Commission. According to José María Fuster, General Director of Statutory Development, the meeting will allow for the exchange of experiences and perspectives among the autonomous communities with their own Civil Law, identify issues in the distribution of powers between the State and those communities, and establish collaboration among them.
Program and Agenda of the Meeting
The meeting will be held in the «Hermanos Bayeu» Room of the Pignatelli Building and will include the inaugural lecture by the jurist Jesús Delgado Echevarría, an expert in Aragonese law. The day will be organized into workshops addressing:
- The composition and functioning of the advisory commissions
- The most recent legislative work in Civil Law in each community
- Points of contact and collaboration among the various commissions
Additionally, the Aragonese experience in modifying the Code of Aragonese Civil Law regarding the legal capacity of individuals will be presented, the draft of which was prepared by the Aragonese Commission on Civil Law.
Importance of Aragonese Civil Law
Carmen Bayod, President of the Aragonese Commission on Civil Law, emphasized that Aragonese Civil Law, our Foral Law, constitutes the principal identity of Aragon and serves as our best presentation card, applying to Aragonese residents in many matters, such as personal rights, family law, inheritances, neighborly relations, easements, and other issues pertaining to property law.
